Zani i Naltë
8About
“Zani i Naltë” is a scientific and cultural journal originally established in 1923 as the first official publication of the Muslim Community of Albania. It was founded shortly after the First Muslim Congress and played an important role in the intellectual and institutional development of the Albanian Muslim community. The journal quickly became a platform for scholarly discussion, addressing a wide range of topics including theology, philosophy, sociology, education, literature, ethics, and national identity. Its aim was not only religious instruction but also contributing to the moral and cultural progress of Albanian society, reflecting both Islamic and national values.
Throughout its initial publication period (1923–1939), “Zani i Naltë” functioned as a significant forum for Albanian intellectual life, bringing together prominent scholars, religious figures, and public intellectuals. It addressed pressing social and cultural issues of its time, such as education reform, youth development, social ethics, and modernization, while also promoting unity, cultural awareness, and national consciousness. After decades of interruption, the journal was later revived as a modern scientific publication, continuing its tradition of contributing to Albanian academic and cultural discourse.
